Greetings and Respect to all of Hip Hop,
This is an open letter to all of the supporters, participants, watchers, listeners, activists and organizers on behalf of Dope Emporium. Hopefully, this will put a clear and strong picture on the latest developments and growth of Dope Emporium.Dope Emporium was created to establish the social, political, communal and financial platform or storefront for DOPE artist from the Northwest. The purpose was to make sure all voices, ideas, creativity and thoughts had a place to bring forth this expression to the public and let them decide if this was intoxicating, original and refreshing enough to be considered "DOPE".In the last 2-3 years, we, the Seattle Hip Hop Community, has come together to help meet this goal. Now, with ALL the struggles and concerns of the entire Hip Hop Community worldwide, Dope Emporium has decided to expand this mission and begin a tour through California, Oregon, New Mexico and Colorado, with collaboration of the National Hip Hop Congress. The purpose is still the same: to do more than just shows, but also add voices to Community Centers, Schools, Youth Advocacy and Community Violence. The tour will be supported by artists such as, Knox Family,DJ B-Girl, Toni Hill, One Be Lo, Mic Crenshaw, D Labrie, Mykill Myers, Reali the mann, Shamako Nobles, Raham Jamal, special and mystery guests and spot dates by Black Stax(check
www.hiphopcongress for tour dates). This tour will happen throughout the month of June and will end June 27th in Portland, OR.That's when the fun begins again for the 2-0-6!! There will be a root establishing event, the first ever, National Hip Hop Conference here, July 29th-August 2nd, 2009. This event is significant because its brings a National Hip Hop audience and participants to our region and let's them take a look into how we are maintaining and building our Hip Hop scene. It also allows for us to establish relationships with like minds and talents across the nation. The National Hip Hop Conference will be hosted by the Hip Hop Congress and supported by Seattle Youth Council, U.M.O.J.A Peace Center, Oseao Media, Zulu Nation and Dope Emporium. Which means Dope Emporium will have a stage where we once again can feature artists and have a space to create the storefront ethic it has operated on. Showcasing visual and audio representation, as well as video history, workshops, debates and producers challenge. Without forgetting and understanding the importance of the vendors market, as a place to have ALL of the works by artist displayed and supported by the local scene. There will be a lead up to this Conference, as the tour gives a peep into the experience most will encounter during the Conference, and there will need to be other events happening to maintain this momentum. So, during the month of July this adrenaline rush will begin with two(2) Rooftop events happening on July 11th and 25th at Spoons Urban Apparel on Beacon Hill. The Rooftop events will be used as a promo before the BANG of Dope Emporium at the Conference! So, once again we will need performers, community activists, event organizers, marketing and promotions gurus, concerned and informed minds, new voices and untapped talents to come together. That way we can TRULY express who and what we are about when Dope Emporium once again gets to make the statement- "why it was created, who it was created for and its purpose?".
Truthfully and Honestly,
Jace(SL/Black Stax)
